Sun Microsystems faces a patent infringement lawsuit based on IP technology owned by NetApp. The lawsuit filed by Sun Micro rival NetApp could potentially derail Sun Micro's latest merger talks with technology manufacturer IBM.
The two year old lawsuit claims that Sun Micro Systems violated NetApp patents for the ZFS filesystem by incorporating the technology into its own Solaris operating system.
Sun initialy responded to the NetApp lawsuit by countering with several patent lawsuits of their own
